MovinCool Office Pro 60 60,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner With Electronic Thermostat Control Review

MovinCool Office Pro 60 60,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner With Electronic Thermostat Control

(More customer reviews)
At some point, anyone with a server room will experience overheating problems. Whether it's caused by building cooling failure, or by overtaxing the air handling system to your server room, heat will be the source of trouble at some point in your server room operations.
I should clarify what I mean by "server room". I am not referring to data centers, which are specifically designed to house hundreds or even thousands of high heat generating server racks, with raised floors, sub-floor cooling systems, large UPS rooms, and days worth of backup generator power. In this case "server room" refers to a dedicated room in a small or medium sized business, where anywhere from one to about five server racks house the data servers for the business's computer operations. (e.g. Law Offices, Insurance Companies, Security Firms, Software Developers, etc.)
For many small businesses, the idea of a server room is an unplanned necessity, resulting from the realization that the receptionist's computer is no longer a sufficient data server for the entire office. When server rooms are set up in existing office space, as most are, they are usually provided the same amount of cooling as the "people space." The problem is that servers produce much more heat than people in an office.
Enter the Movincool Office Pro 60 Portable Air Conditioner. This unit provides five cooling tons of air conditioning to these undercooled areas. While it's not as easy to set up as the manufacturer claims, it's still a very reasonable option. Movincool makes it sound like you just roll it in, plug it in, and you're ready to go. In reality, it's a little bit more involved than that. Specifically, you need to have a dedicated 50 amp, 230 volt circuit available for this unit. It does not plug into a normal outlet. Depending on the location of your power panel and your relationship with your local electrical contractor, installing the dedicated circuit and outlet can cost as little as a $150, to well over $1000.
Another issue to take into consideration is that this unit, like all refrigeration units, produces condense water that needs to be drained. The Movincool handles this very well. It has a built-in condensate pump that will pump the condense water out of the unit, through the included 25' drain hose. This allows you to drain the water into a drain above the level of the A/C unit itself, such as a kitchen or bathroom sink, or even outside, through a wall.
After power and water drain issues have been addressed, the next important consideration is the venting the unit. Air conditioners pump heat from one source to another, in this case air to air. While you have ice cold air blasting out of the front of the unit, you also have hot air billowing up from the top of the unit. An air duct mounts to the top to carry this hot air out and away, usually into the building air return system above your ceiling tiles. (There is even a ceiling tile adapter for the air duct.) The air that blows out of the top of the unit is pulled in from the side, thereby drawing out conditioned room air and replacing it with air from the surrounding office area. If this isn't a problem in your case, don't worry about it. If you have a sealed room that can't readily replace air being pulled out of it, Movincool makes an adapter that allows you to hook up another air duct from the building supply air (cooling register) to the air intake on the side of the unit. Problem solved.
Lastly, remember to take size into consideration. It's hard to get a perspective of the size of this unit from pictures. It's not like those little home units that are only a little bit bigger than a paper shredder. This unit is 30" wide, by 52" long, by 64" high, more like an entertainment center than an air conditioner. If you need to use the air intake adapter on the side, add about another 24" to the width, just to be safe.
While these four considerations definitely need some planning, it's still a very feasible installation, even on short notice; not to mention much cheaper than a permanent installation. Best of all, if you are in leased office space, you can take your investment with you when you decide to move to a new location. Overall, this unit is a great investment.

Thermosoft Electric Radiant Floor Heating for Laminate or Hardwood Floor-TF3010-120 Review

Thermosoft Electric Radiant Floor Heating for Laminate or Hardwood Floor-TF3010-120
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased 3 3'x10' thermosoft floor heating mats for a 9'x13' room that is on a cement slab. The room gets very cold due to the cold seeping through the cement floor. The rest of the room was completely gutted, re-insulated, all new Anderson windows, sealed high-hats. So it was the cement floor causing the room to be so cold. Installation was fairly straight forward. The instructions were simple to follow. Roll out the mats, and run all of the wires to wherever you're placing the thermostat. Each mat has 2 wires - a black and a white (about 25 feet long). Run an electric line to the thermostat box as well. Mats get wired in parallel (twist all the black wires together, and twist all of the white wires together) - and connect to the thermostat (also has a black and white wire). Electric line connects to the thermostat. Thermostat comes with a floor sensor to measure temperature of the floor. Purchase an extra one and install it too so you have a backup. Run the lines to the thermostat box. Only connect one of the floor sensors. If it dies/malfunctions you can connect the second instead. Installed a Pergo laminate floor over it.
So I had 90 feet of thermosoft radiant heat for a room area of roughly 120'. The floor struggles to get the room temperature past 65 degrees. I have even raised the temperature of the heating coils to their maximum (99 degrees) via thermostat settings. The default temperature of the coils is 80 degrees. After placing down the mats i realized i probably could have squeezed another 1.5' by 5' mat in the room. You really need the entire floor surface covered. In addition, the floor needs to be running most of the time. This system doesn't heat the room quickly. I have it set to shut down at night and come back on in the morning. Overall my electrical bill hasnt gone up so the floor appears to be fairly energy efficient - but for $950 bucks, i expected a little more heat out of the system. I thought 90 feet of heated flooring was adequate for the space - but as i said previously - the room struggles on cold days. I actually purchased an electric heater for $50 bucks. In the past it would have done nothing, but now with the thermosoft floor keeping the chill out of the room - the electric heater can warm the room up to 68-70 degrees fairly quickly.
So i'm giving the product 3 out of 5 stars. It does keep the chill out of the room - no more walking on a freezing cold floor - but it struggles to get it past 65 degrees. For the price i paid, I shouldn't have to use a space heater in the room.

I use this in my bedroom. It gets really hot, especially in the summer, and I also have a lot of electronic equipment(av receiver, Xbox 360, PS3, LCD tv, some halogen lamps, etc.) and to top that all off I am really hot natured. So I needed something to keep the room cool. This thing does it effortlessly. The temp. in my room used to climb up to 75ºF, now with the SoleusAir it stays at around 66-68ºF, just how I like it. On a side note, my central A/C went out last summer and it got up to 83ºF in my house, but the SoleusAir kept it at a cool 68ºF in my room. So you can count on it even under the most demanding loads. It also has a built-in heater as well and it heats as well as it cools. So this is really an all-in-one unit. The only downside(along with any other portable a/c unit) is that you must run 2 hoses(one exhaust, one intake) to a window. It comes with a window installation kit, but I live near a busy street so I can sometimes hear outside noise... but it's not too bad.
But I would highly recommend this product.

Peerless 76154 1.6 GPM Water-Amplifying Showerhead, Chrome Review

Peerless 76154 1.6 GPM Water-Amplifying Showerhead, Chrome
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have lower water pressure (about 62 psi) and tested many lower flow, mater amping shower heads. Alsons makes many of these with the big companies putting their names on them. This is the same technology as the Delta 1.6 but cosmetically different. You can find the Peerless in the Wal mart around me.
This head put the most pressure out for the money. Nearly 15-21 psi more than the 2.5 gpm heads!
It does use less water than a 2.5 and gives a pretty decent shower. It will be more than enough to blast soap and conditioner off of your body and hair.
The large hole will make it less likely to clog if you have hard water. The action is more like a side to side shake combined with a pulse so you get body coverage with force.
This is different than what you might be used to since it is not a needle spray but larger drops of water. Some think these mist but I do not see that effect. It does spray different than what most have so takes a few showers to really know if you like this way of presenting water to your body.
It s one draw back is that it might have to much force. I am male and my first thought was it was good but mixed with little stings mixed in. However I do think in a week your body would get used to it.
For the low cost if you are looking to boost pressure and save water, you should try this by going to your local store and seeing if you can find it to try it out.
If you want to spend about $24 you can buy from Amazon the 1.6 version by Alsons with 4 holes that use this technology. Over all it solves all the issues. It will give you wider coverage, and the pressure is divided between all 4 holes. You do get about 10 psi LESS pressure because of the 4 holes so there is no sting. For some reason that one uses a little more water even though they are both 1.6 rated.
If looking for low cost, lower water use, high pressure, this one is hard to beat for the money.

LG WM2101HW 27 Front-Load Washer 4.0 cu. ft. Capacity, 8 Wash Cycles - White Review

When our top loader died a few weeks back we decided it was finally time to try a front loader. After checking reviews on a lot of different sources (epinions, amazon, consumerreports, jdpowers, buzzillions) I decided on an LG but a different model.
I went to sears and they didn't have the model I had settled on - they directed me to this one. More checking of reviews ensued. I ended up buying this from Sears. On sale, + 5% off for using my sears account plus no financing for a year it was a reasonable deal. $665.00.
My husband did the pick up and installation and that was easy. (Don't forget to take out the shipping bolts!)
There were two things that stood out right away when we ran our first few loads -
1) The clothes were WAY cleaner than they had been in our top loader. I mean, seriously, I don't even know how to describe it. Just, wow, I didn't know a washing machine could get things so clean.
2) The dryer time was cut in half or better. A load of towels will dry in 20 minutes on the permanent press setting! AWESOME!
On the down side the cycle times are a little longer - Averaging just under an hour. The sanitize cycle is 1hr40-min. One reviewer had a complaint about water temperature. I have no idea how hot the water gets and will never have the energy to figure it out. I'm happy enough just seeing how clean everything is. Dish towels run in the sanitize cycle came out smelling clean. Yay!
The machine has a speed wash that will complete in just under 30 minutes. How cool is that? If you are behind on your laundry and just need to get some loads through you can have loads going through every half hour and you don't have to wait for the dryer because the clothes are spun dry so well their dry time is short.
The only real down side is that it is a myth to think you are now free to wash bulky things like king comforters. The load won't balance to spin and so the machine just keeps trying to balance it but it can't. However, I think it will work to wash the bulky items and stand by for the spin cycle. Just pull the clean comforter out and air dry it. (or squeeze it out yourself and put it in the dryer.
We debated on the 179.00 for an extended warranty. Based on the 10 year motor warranty and 3 year drum warranty we're skipping the extended warranty. I'll check back here if that turns out to have been a terrible mistake.
